Sculpture

Sculptor, Evan Levy, is as much influenced by his deep nationalism as by his intuitive artistic vision.  This piece from the Athabasca series is a fine example of his desire to create images of the Canadian environment.  He used forms taken from Inuit boats and shelters.  Then abstracted them for his own aesthetic needs.  He is a purist to his approach of art making: reducing sculpture to elemental forms.  This sculpture is dedicated to his father, Arnold Levy, 1910 - 1990, another ardent nationalist.
