During the winter months, when stiff water outdoors prevails, model boats are in dry dock. They are looked over, repaired, changed, painted or whatever else the skipper thinks that has to be changed. . ![]() ![]() ![]()
In Spring, usually at the beginning of April, one cannot wait any longer to launch these boats. The fun begins..... .....even for a seagull hitching a ride aboard the Madurodam. A pond, like in Humber Bay Park East, must feel like a big ocean to some of the small models. ![]() ![]()

Harbourfront is a great venue for model boats and spectators alike. The water is only inches deep and if any mishap happens and the boat can be retrieved in bare feet - not that this ever happens!? The same applies to the Scarborough Civic Centre wading pool. Only on hot summer days the pool has to be shared with children cooling off. There are not many kids disturbing the models and the dockside is in comfortable shade during summer afternoons. Come October the temperature drops to an uncomfortable cool temperature and the boats go into storage. A few months later the cycle begins again. |
