The Fast Electric Division
at Centennial Park on July 13, 2008
Pictures by Klaus Ruthard
It was a sunny not too warm a day in the park. Not knowing exactly where the Fast Electric group would be, I approached the lake from the opposite side just by following the sound of electric motors. Across the lake the small but fast boats raced across the water at an incredible speed. There is plenty of room for the course staked out with markers. This looks much safer than the smaller pond at Humber Bay Park East. The fishermen keep out of the way and the fish probably as well.
It is quite entertaining to watch the boats race and it is just as interesting to see the guys work on their fast boats, getting them ready for the next race. They have not just one or two boats on the table - each and everyone owns a fleet.
The small electric rescue boat is always at the ready. It is quite common that they turn over because of wind, waves or erratic handling maneuvers.
